Lesson 5
Prepare Your Heart To Talk To God
by Robert Pedersen
Once again we’re looking at a belief that will limit communication with God.
You’ve heard it over and over and probably have come to believe it at some level.
Here it is:
“God works in mysterious ways.”
You and I don’t always understand what God is doing.
Why not?
Perhaps it’s partly because we’re not in communication with God.
Why aren’t we in communication with God?
Could it be because we believe that God and everything related to God is shrouded in mystery?
Again – according to your faith be it unto you…
If you are holding firmly to the belief that God works in mysterious ways then God’s thoughts, intentions and activities will be hidden in plain site!
They must be according to your belief. And by your belief anything that is visible is not God’s work.
Convenient perhaps but true? Hardly.
So here’s the question: Can God speak to you through that belief?
Yes and no. The parameters are defined by your belief – which is a limitation you impose on your experience of God.
So here’s another question: Once you know how God works and how God speaks, is it mysterious anymore?
Consider Jesus as he lived and walked on this earth.
He made requests to God. He asked God to perform some amazing miracles. He demonstrated complete confidence and faith in God.
Do you think Jesus considered the way God worked mysterious?
We won’t always know every aspect of God and that should keep us humble. But we can know much more about God than we usually allow just by being receptive and open to His working.
Scripture reference:
Mark 4:11
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the
mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are
without, all these things are done in parables: (KJV)
Jesus had just told a story that is referred to as the parable of the sower. Later when they were alone, his disciples asked him what the parable meant. This verse was his response. Then he went on to explain it in greater detail to them.
The bottom line is this. God doesn’t wish to be mysterious to you.
If you’re one to whom the kingdom is given – humble and lowly in spirit you can know the mystery of the kingdom of God.
Knowing, communicating, and working with God is within your reach.
According to your faith be it unto you.

now that is comforting , no mysteries .
quite like the phrase , having been given the the kingdom .
That is it isn’t it ?
Absolutely! God’s way is simple. All mystery and confusion is our addition!
Eventhough i do not belief this intellectually, it is something like a core believe to me.I now know is due to my poor communication with God;thanks very much i have to correct it.
Just let it go… we are just too attached to our ideas and beliefs about God – and everything else. If you try to correct a belief, what are you doing? – replacing it with something similar, but different, that is just another limiting belief.
If we are to come to know infinite God, we must be open to all possibilities with no attachment to any, because attachment identifies a judgment, and judgment is the outgrowth of limited and conditional acceptance of the infinite.
Blessings,
Robert
wow! its easier said than done. I’ll try my best.
Vic,
Is it easier said than done, or – do you think it’s harder than it is?
I’ll argue the latter. Don’t worry it’s just our old way of looking at communicating with God – and that’s the piece that we need to let go of.
Trying really doesn’t get us anywhere. Letting go does. And I suppose complete books could be written on that topic – and indeed are!
Anyway, please relax. Breathe deeply. Stop trying. There isn’t really anything for you to “do”. Let the old beliefs in your separation from God go and relax into the oneness. Don’t judge the experience – who are we to judge anyway?
Blessings,
Robert
I used to think I knew God’s plan for my life, but now I realise I just knew men’s interpretation of God’s plan for my life.
I love this!! Its so easy, and am going to make it even more easier, letting go of all the old beliefs.. I did experienced the most beautiful and intimate feeling with God, that made me weep and cried like a baby, cant put it into words… I just hope other people will experience this wonderful and magical moment with God. thank you Robert, I love this.
Awesome! I don’t know what else to say!
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Man will gladly give you their opinion of what God’s will and plan for your life is.
I’m not aware that it is ever satisfactory.
Robert
duuuuuuude. I am convicted. We’ve used this phrase as an EXCUSE!!! God DOES offer us knowledge and revelation. The Christ Jesus said that he calls [us] friends and he tells his friends what’s going on (John 15:15)!
No more excuses! No more ignorance!!!! No more laziness. No more sitting idaly-by.
Also I LOVE that you said, “…please relax. Breathe deeply. Stop TRYING. There isn’t really anything for you to do.” (emphasis mine). hehehe. Praise God for he is not in the darkness. OMG! WE are the ones in darkness.
Your comment made me smile, Josh.
Yes, I’m convinced that God doesn’t wish us to run around in ignorance!
