There seems to be renewed interest in seeking and searching for God. Many folks seem to be interested in communicating with God. It really is a fascinating idea. Perhaps it’s more of a fascination with the idea than anything else.
Of course I think people are feeling a need to connect with God in these trying times – perhaps more than ever before.
I believe many of them have tried all kinds of religions and found no satisfaction. It’s really quite interesting to read of all the interest in God and yet people seem to be shifting away from church attendance.
In the last few months there have been numerous articles published about the decline in church attendance.
So what are these people doing to satisfy their yearning for God?
Recently I had a conversation with a friend who told of attending numerous churches in the area – looking for something… and not finding it.
He said it felt like going back to high school – hardly what one would desire worship to be.
It’s not a new story. It may be yours.
What does one do for fellowship? Where do you find like-minded folks who are longing for a relationship with God if you can’t find them in church?
I may be going out on a limb here but here’s where I think the Internet is going to be awesome.
The Internet provides an amazing way for people all around the world to communicate – and it’s improving every day!
I can sit here on my computer in Alabama and communicate with friends on the other side of the globe! Amazing!
If I wish I can talk to them via the Internet.
So what does this have to do with communicating with God?
Well, it doesn’t matter what the human mind desires to do, there is something really awesome about having a “support group” or a “mastermind group” to help you along. Other like minded seekers with which to share experiences, thoughts and dreams.
I love what Jesus prayed for in John 17 – That all who would believe on him would be one. If you haven’t read that passage in a while, go grab your Bible and read that prayer.
The idea of many being one is fascinating. It really is the goal if we ascribe to Christ principles.
So I see the world wide web developing to assist in that objective!
Am I crazy?
