Do I Give God Enough Time To Answer?

This is another interesting question – we may be wondering. . . “How long is it gonna take for my prayer to be answered?”

Maybe some doubts creep in – “I’ve given God a whole week and my soul-mate hasn’t walked into my life …. should I ask again or is He ignoring me?”

I don’t like rules but let’s make one here:

Rule #1: Ask only for something that’s worth asking for. That means consider your request before hand. Ask only if it’s something you really, really want – like a cup of coffee.

Note: Some of the folks reading this will likely think that asking God for a cup of coffee is testing God, and some kind of game one shouldn’t play.

I’ll say this: Jesus left it wide open when He said:

John 14:14

If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.  (KJV)

As I’ve said before – we all must start somewhere. You must begin by asking for something you believe you can receive. This builds your faith and prepares you to ask for more. Begin with whatever you choose – just ask believing!

Okay – back to the original discussion:

Let’s make another rule.

Rule #2: Don’t put time limits on God – Remember that you are spirit and God is spirit – Time is a contrivance for the physical world. It only serves to confuse us and help us forget our true nature – which is timeless.

Now if you ask for something you really want it will bring great joy and satisfaction whenever it shows up. Time therefore isn’t the issue.

If the “when” of your request is critical there’s another issue at hand.

If you need it now but don’t need it tomorrow or next year – is it really something worth asking for? Rule #1  You may be thinking to yourself “If I ask for a cup of coffee like this guy just said then I’m violating rule #1″.  Not necessarily.  If it’s something you want – and receiving it will build your faith – then it’s not only something you want, it’s something you need.  Okay enough about that.

If some result isn’t showing up as soon as we think it should and we’re allowing that to create some sort of upset, it could be that we’re not as aware of our own timeless spiritual nature as would benefit us.

As pure spirit – time has no meaning. I we gain connection with God who is spirit – that connection will occur at the level of spirit – where time and it’s perceived importance diminishes.

What does this mean? If we’re in a hurry for something to come, it will serve us better to relax the attachment to timing we’re holding on to. In letting go of our own schedules we open to God’s time which most would agree is perfect.

This is another way in which we learn to “Let go and let God”!
